Both Second Chance at Life and the MDFC work to increase organ donation awareness, encourage individuals to consider organ donation and support research to improve treatment and care for transplant patients. We provide financial support to transplant patients in Michigan who cannot otherwise afford prescriptions, medical bills and other necessities during and/or after a transplant. In addition, efforts are made to assist donor families by supporting them through their loss and keeping the memories alive of those who gave the greatest gift – the gift of life.
Last year in Michigan, 862 lives were saved by 289 donors, and over the past 10 years, more than 10,000 Michigan patients received the "Gift of Life". However, more than 3,000 people in Michigan are still waiting for a life saving transplant. Every day in the United States an average of 16 people die waiting for a life-saving transplant. One donor can save up to 8 lives and enhance the lives of up to 50 people.
Your support will allow us to continue making a difference in many lives in the State of Michigan. Please review the sponsorship opportunities knowing that 100% of your contributions will go directly to fund these important programs. We are asking hospitals, businesses and others to assist our nonprofit’s mission by providing a sponsorship to this event.

Provide a support system to organ and tissue donor families which we also extend into the transplant community. The Michigan Donor Family Council is focused on education and awareness concerning donation through our core values of integrity, commitment, and teamwork. We integrate these values into each opportunity to educate our community regarding the benefits of organ donation.
